They should make that aspect of the Navbar optional for us so that schools, churches, and old ladies of every kind can choose not to play if they don't want to. Thanks for the code! I was now able to do a blog for my daughter's dance group without fearing "next blog" unknowns.
Anyone...I am trying to hide the navbar to block the "next-blog" access with no luck...I have the script code on top of the nav bar but it is still there? Can any one help...some very gross blogs come up!

I found the adult content today. It is not a small problem. It seemed half the time 'next blog' took me to a site with adult content. I'm not
easily offended, but I don't want links to adult content on sites that I create. It seems that the Blogger TOS of service are quite clear concerning adult content. I'll remove
the navbar and hope that Blogger understands. Thanks for the help.

Ok this works great however how do I customize my site without the navbar showing? The Customize link is in the navbar.

Well, that's the problem, isn't it? It's the donkey and the "carrot". If you don't want the smelly donkey, you can't get the carrot! I dismissed worrying about this some time ago, but maybe I should research it a little more. I'm not that deep a coder or hacker, but I know a few who are and who might have investigated this more than I did. Don't hold your breath!

I'm not sure what your last remark referred to, but it's a common misunderstanding among new bloggers to think that private info (like your email) and quick-edit icons are viewable by everyone when they are only visible to the blog owner (when he is logged in). Glad you got some good out of this old post, though!

Yay!!! That "next blog" thing really had me fried. I do not want to point people to other random blogs that I don't control. No way, no how! I wish the normally on top of it Google developers just put a checkmark in the navbar prefs to show/hide next blog.
