Now you want to revert back to the New Blogger (Layout) version, but Blogger only allows for part of that; unless you had not yet created any page elements, you can't switch back with a single button-push or without some busy work!1. locate and click on "Customize Design", 2. then click on "Upgrade Your Template ", 3. choose a new template. 4. click "Save the template" [More below...] You will be returned to an upgraded version of Blogger (with the layout) in which you will find some aspects of the Layout version, but not the elements that you added previously. You can create new Page Elements, but all the elements that disappeared when you reverted to the Classic template will remain lost. The only way to have kept a "backup" of the page elements would have been to have "expanded" the widget templates and to have made "copy and paste" copies of the text data and kept them in plain-text files (such as Notepad). I've switched back and forth like this numerous times, but only in a test blog, not in an important blog with things too important for me to lose all the elements, so I may not have noticed every detail of what's possible and what's not. I just know that some things will be possible. Never discount the possibility of being able to view "cached" versions of your blog in Google or other search engines and possibly being able to "copy and paste" some of your code or info from there. Maybe you can recuperate a goodly portion of it by using your Internet Options to get to the "View Source Code" feature. |

EMERGENCY STEPS
Kick-starting The Blog |
---|
1. Refresh (F5) or Ctrl-F5
2. Clear cache (delete temporary Internet files) and cookies in Tools-Internet Options. 3. Add a question mark to the end of your blog's internet address in the address box and see if it will show the latest update. (Can also be done with other people's url's in the address window.) 4. Republish (if in classic Blogger) 5. Reboot 6. Log out and log back in again (may change to an untroubled server) 7. Change or reload the browser (IE, Firefox, others) 8. Try a different computer, or see if you can duplicate the problem or avoid it in a post in another blog (make a test blog, whether in the same account or a second account, that's not public so nobody will see you screwing around!) ---Not necessary to do all of these at once!--- |
Blogger may make problems for some computers about accepting cookies, especially when you are using the new versions of Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers. Difficulties with accepting scripts may be caused by security systems, antivirus programs, firewalls, and some add-ons. Check all your settings.
You may need to change your browser settings, or to list www.blogger.com and blogger.com as "trusted sites" in your Internet Options-Security so that scripting can occur.

Create A New Post?
I need to create a new post, but how?
METHOD 1:
In your Navbar, click on New Post.
OR
METHOD 2:
On your Dashboard, click New Post under the relevant blog.
OR
METHOD 3:
1. When logged in to your blog, click on Customize in the Navbar.
2. Then click on Posting
3. and then click on Edit Posts
OR
METHOD 4:
If those icons aren't showing, check to see if the pencil icon under each post is
visible? If so,
1. Click on the pencil
2. you should be able to see Create and Edit Posts up above
3. Click on Create.
BUT
If these icons aren't showing and you've done all that you can about Refreshing (Ctrl-F5), clearing the cache and cookies, trying another browser, and so forth (see my EMERGENCY STEPS at the top of this blog), you may only be able to get help from a direct appeal to Blogger Support. Though that process is often slow, they're at:

Blogs Don't Really Delete
Addendum to orignal post:
NOW THEY REALLY DON'T DELETE!
See my post NEW Undelete Button on Dashboard
Deleting blogs is a misnomer. Deleting your blog is problematic. Spam bloggers can jump on it (probably via robots) as soon as you "delete" it. Somehow Blogger's procedures allows them not only to grab your old address, but in many cases keep the content (posts) as well! Your writing then is used as "cover" or "bait" for the lazy-ass spammers; they keep your blogful of content alive, for their gain. (They may steal your content by pulling up a cached version of your blog on the web.) Even if none of that happens to you, Google caches (for instance) will not let your dead horse be buried. Cached versions linger on for long periods, so that you haven't really made it "disappear" utterly. |
If I wanted to delete one of my blogs, I'd replace the content with a single dummy (aka "stub") post, one that just exists, that doesn't say much. Maybe it could say "Oink!" or some other favorite message of your own. I'd leave it like that, hoping that further Google rides across the Internet to Cache everything would then cache my dummy post. |
I can't help but think Blogger may someday deal with the spammers so that Bloggers can delete without such worries. However, there is no telling how far away that is.
Never underestimate the value of contacting Blogger about such undeleted blogs. I have known them to obliterate all trace of them or to get them back for us, but it is often difficult to get their attention. Contact them at Blogger Support. Be persistent.

Clear Cache
Refresh/ Clear Cache/ Restart/ Delete Temporary Files/You may need to clear your cache (delete temporary files and cookies), or Refresh, or restart your computer. Try the Refresh button (F5 or the double-arrow icon up above) or Ctrl-F5 first, then consider the cache. Sometimes our computer will hold an old memory of our blog and won't spit it out! See if you can shake it loose. The preceding may work wonders (sometimes) for links or icons that have disappeared from your screen. Of course, your trouble may just be a Blogger Quirk due to your server being disrupted or worked on. You have my pity, but that's not worth much. For those of you unaquainted with the cache or the "Temporary Internet Files", go to the Tools tab up above and click it. At the bottom of that revealed menu will be "Internet Options". On that menu you will find where to click to Delete Cookies or Delete Temporary Internet files (which is the cache). I know, it's double lingo for the same stuff! It never hurts to restart your browser or even to change your browser (temporarily) just to see if it is easier with the particular problem that you have. For more information on how and why to clear your cache, see: Windows IE Clear Cache and CLEAR CACHE IN FIREFOX AND OTHER BROWSERS. |

Line Breaks
When "Enter" doesn't make a new line |
---|
or, WHERE'S MY PARAGRAPHS?! 1. go to Dashboard 2. click "Change Settings" 3. click "Formatting" 4. find "Convert line breaks" and click it to "Yes" 5. go to bottom and Save your change. Beware of cached versions, either in your computer memory or elsewhere. Delete the cookies, clear the cache. If the above doesn't work, there may be times when a quick and dirty fix will do, that is, to make lines break with <br />. END. |

When You Can't Delete A Post
Possibly your cache is stuck. Delete your temporary internet files. Sometimes it's even recommended that you delete the cookies. Restart your computer if you have to. Click F5 on your computer and see if it refreshes. Your problem may be with one or all of these.
As long as you do them all, the order in which you try them is not important.
In a hurry?
If you continue to have trouble and need to hurriedly get that post out of sight, you can make it disappear from the readers' view by just going into Edit Post and Save As Draft. A copy will exist, but not among the published posts. You'll have made it disappear.
This is also a handy trick when you just need to see if a particular post is the cause of margin or sidebar problems. Publish the post again to make it visible again, naturally.
END.
