Blogger Has N0 Email or Phone Support!

WELL, DON'T GET BROKE UP ABOUT IT!

Blogger does not provide email-based support beyond the automated messages or give out telephone numbers. Not at Blogger Help Group (BHG) or much of anywhere else. [There is a fax number at Google's page about digital copyright and infringement. I assume if you fax them about off-subject concerns that those faxes may end up in the trash.] BHG is almost exclusively a forum where people ask questions about Blogger--then other, more experienced, "amateurs" try to answer them. Though a Blogger Employee may join the forum from time to time, it is not their 24-7 job to answer questions at BHG! Like you, I wish it was, but it isn't that way. Documents and other written help already exist at Blogger Help Group, so that's in addition to asking a question and hopefully getting answers from more experienced Bloggers. But that's it, as of this date. [More below...] I won't pretend that I can make it make sense to you. The bottom line is that IT IS THEIR FOOTBALL and if we don't like it, we can leave. They are never that rude when they make statements about their policies, but that's what it boils down to. They've obviously got the money, but they don't have enough time to piddle with each and every individual blogger. On this page of Blogger Help, it says: Need to contact our support team? We provide email support for the issues listed below. While we do read each email, you'll only hear from us (generally within three business days) if we need more information to resolve your issue. The following articles will help you determine if you need to contact us: Login and Access Issues Report Abuse Bugs For all other issues, please search the Help Center or ask for help in the Help Forum. As you see, they think they DO provide email support, but since they generally won't answer your damn email, I would still say that they DO NOT. Blogsend--Email Notification for 10 or Less

If you have a list of 10 or fewer people that you'd like to send email notifications of each time you publish a new post, here's how. Go to your Dashboard. Click on Settings. Click on Email. Enter email addresses, ten or less, separated by commas. Be sure to Save Settings at bottom of page. Each "notification" is actually a copy of the entire post. For email notification of a larger group or that has the option to include less of the post, see my post, Subscription List.

1. Go to your subscription page where all the posts are listed. 2. Find the "Edit my membership" icon on the right and click it. 3. Then you'd have a page listing the options about email choices. 4. Select one option. 5. Be sure to click "Save these settings".

How To Stop BHG Emails

Many of us cease to need these emails as suddenly as we began to need them!

Turn Off Blogger-Help-Group Email Messages
1. Go to "Edit my membership" 2. Set the options on the left to "no email" or click "Unsubscribe". 3. Click on "Save these Settings".

Subscription List--Google Groups

How Others Subscribe To Your Blog

Go to Create Google Group Create the group for your blog. Once created, click Visit Your Group and at the Home page click "Group Settings", located on the right side of the screen. Find "Get a promotion box for your website" and click it. It will show some code (probably 2 sets) for you to copy. Select the second. Return to your blog. Paste the copied text into an html/javascript page element. Go to your Dashboard. Go to Settings. Click Email tab. Enter the email for your Google Group in Blogsend Address. Click Save Settings. The blog will email the group and the group will email everyone on the list.

Everyone who subscribes will be sent an email copy of each new post, but there are options so you (or other individual subscribers) may select various forms of abridgement instead of the full post. How do you want to read this group? No Email I will read this group on the web Abridged Email (No more than 1 email per day) Get a summary of new activity each day Digest Email (Approximately 1 email per day) Get up to 25 full new messages bundled into a single email Email (Approximately 1 email per day) Send each message to me as it arrives See Change Email Options In Subscription List Of course, Blogger already has a "Subscribe to Posts" link at the bottom of the blog. Many people use that.

Leave Your Email At Blogger Help Group?

Your email address won't be published in BHG messages; Blogger will suppress it if you list it the normal way. You should use some spacing or else use tricks like:

ratsouthern AT gmail DOT com

And most experienced Internet users will know what you mean! Blogger won't suppress what it doesn't recognize nor will the spammer be likely to harvest it (which is what Blogger is trying to prevent when it suppresses our emails).

Gold Stars (In Blogger Help Group)

In Blogger Help Group, many new readers leave a question and then don't know how to retrace their steps to find out if an answer has ever been posted. If any of them are lucky enough to read this, the solution is easy.

Locate the blue-outlined white star to the left of each thread. Click the star and it will turn gold. When you return to BHG again, click on the word "Favorites" at the top of any page. You will then see a list of 1 or more of the threads you previously marked with gold stars. Click on the thread "title" of each star to view the thread and see if any answers were submitted. ALSO: You can click on "profile" in the top right of the Blogger Help Group pages. A list of ALL the questions/answers originating from you will appear under your profile details.

Don't waste time leaving your email in the ordinary format, it won't work and therefore no one can email you!

The above will save most new users a great deal of time. I wish I hadn't spent weeks before I discovered it all!

Also in Blogger Help Group, you can click Edit Membership and have email updates sent to you.

Email Notifications--Google Groups

How do I create a group?

1. Go to the Blogger Help Group forum and look in various locations where it says "Create a group". There is one under the Reply under each question. There's one at the bottom of most pages. 2. If you create a group there, you can add multiple email addresses at one time. Be sure to mark them all to recieve all email notifications. 3. You will be given an email address for the Google Group; copy it. 4. Then, in your blog, go to Settings - Email - Blogsend Address. 5. Enter or paste the email address you were given in the Google Group. Save Settings and you should be through.

Mailto, Or "Email Me" Link

If still using Classic Blogger, you would have to add the mailto code in the appropriate place in the sidebar. If you're using the Layout template, you'll do the following:

Add an email link in your blog:
1. On the Navbar, click on Customize. 2. Click on Add A Page Element. 3. Click Add To Blog under your choice of page element. 4. for adding a mailto, add an html/javascript page element. 5. Put the following html code into it: <a href="mailto:ratsouthern@gmail.com">You can email me here!</a>

Of course, put your address in it, not mine! You can change the "Email me" wording.

Save Changes when you've finished with the html in the page element.
